Meet Veronica
My name is Aderonke Veronica Babalola Ogunleye. Most people call me Veronica, but my Yorurba name is Aderonke, which loosely means the crown has something to care for or the king's pride. Thus, the restaurant's name comes from the meaning of my first name.
I have a passion for cooking and baking. I started cooking in 1993 at Ebute Metta West Lagos, Nigeria, then to Idimu Road Lagos state Nigeria after my school years. I began developing my recipes and eventually built a successful catering business in Nigeria.
I moved my family to the United States. Once here, I started as a private chef and worked to build my catering business. I became licensed and food-certified. From there, I entered the culinary education program at Emma's Torch, where I became a graduate chef. I have worked in New York City at Egg & Egg in Brooklyn and Maison Kayser in Manhattan.
I began my efforts by taking on catering jobs and hiring kitchens to make and sell my chin chin, which I still sell and has grown quite a following in local African markets.

I secured my first restaurant license on December 8th, 2022.
Eventually, I built enough clientele to open my restaurant space in January 2024.
